[EPL Highlights] Chelsea 3 – 1 Arsenal (February-4-2017)




Chelsea 3 – 1 Arsenal as Alonso, Hazard and Fabregas goals complete emphatic win for Chelsea and Giroud scored a late consolation goal for Arsenal, Chelsea win 3-1, thoroughly deservedly. Arsenal pull a goal back through Olivier Giroud, but it is far too little, far too late: 3-1. Firm near-post header that Courtois should have saved.

Chelsea hosted Arsenal this Saturday lunch time kickoff and were hoping to stretch their lead at top of the table to 12 points with a win at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea started stronger and took the lead inside first 15 minutes thanks to Marcos Alonso’s goal which came after Deigo Costa’s thumping header rebounded off the cross bar and fell nicely for un rushing Alonso to head home from close range. Arsenal never looked like scoring as Chelsea shut them down every time when they had to ball in and around Chelsea goal.

Eden Hazard has scored in three of his past four home games against Arsenal, Chelsea moved 12 points clear at the top of the Premier League with a comfortable win over Arsenal. Marcos Alonso opened the scoring from close range when he headed in the rebound after Diego Costa’s effort hit the crossbar. The Blues doubled their lead seven minutes after the break when Eden Hazard tucked the ball past Petr Cech after a fantastic individual run which began on the halfway line. Cesc Fabregas put the game beyond his former club when he lobbed past Cech after a poor clearance. Olivier Giroud scored a late consolation goal for the visitors, who are now 12 points behind the league leaders.

1. 13′ 1 – 0 Marcos Alonso scores in 13th minute after Deigo Costa’s header bounced off the cross bar and Alonso headed home from close range to make it 1-0 for Chelsea.
2. 53′ 2 – 0 Eden Hazard scored incredible solo goal after almost going through entire Arsenal back line on his own and slotted home with a neat finish to kill the game off.
3. 85′ 3 – 0 Cesc Fabregas put the game beyond his former club when he lobbed past Cech after a poor clearance.

4. 90′+1 3 – 1 Olivier Giroud scored a late consolation goal for the visitors, who are now 12 points behind the league leaders.
